Abstract/Hauptbeschreibung (Englisch)

I have attempled to reconstruct the historical figure of Arnaut de Cumenge, a trobadour who is generally descrided as ‘minor’ and relegated to the margins of the traditionally accepted troubadour corpus, and I have provided a critical teht for the only sirventes that may be safely attributed to him. The examination of this one surviving text has provided important information about its date and political and cultura background. The principal ideological motivation behind the sirventes has been pinpointed to the author’s obvious dislike of the clergy, and in particular of the interference in the public life of his region of the ordo praedicatorum. I also suggest that Arnaut de Cumenge could de recognized as the promotor of a verse dialogue with Bernart de la Barta that not so far, has been correctly attributed nor has it been allocated a suitable point on the map of medieval occitan literature.
