Abstract/Hauptbeschreibung (Englisch)

This article examines new directions in creating non-standard sculptures. Along with traditional methods and materials for making volumetric forms, we see the use of old textile techniques to achieve unique works of art. One of the oldest methods of working with textile threads – weaving, has been used by various designers to create non-standard interior installations. Another traditional technique for processing natural wool, known as felt, has been used by some artists to create non-standard exterior sculptures. As examples of successful design of textile sculptures and installations, the works of Joseph Beuys, Emilia Panayotova, Joel S. Allen, Diana Orving and Chiharu Shiota are presented.
