Abstract/Hauptbeschreibung (Englisch)

This article describes various trends in the making of jewels. Beside traditional methods and materials we observe the application of different textile techniques. One of the oldest existing methods of textile coloring is the so-called “shibori”, used by a number of designers to create unique shawls, bags and textile jewels. Another traditional technique used for processing natural wool, the so-called „felt“ is widely used in the production of jewels. The creative work of the Japanese designer Atsuko Sasaki is an example of successful jewelry design using non-woven fabrics. The last textile technique presented in the article is „weaving“. The creations of the Argentinian company mmpascual are an interesting example of turning small pieces of textile in silver frames into unique jewels. Keywords: old textile techniques, jewelry, fashion
