Main description (Italian)
Main description (English)
The article examines the eighteenth-century history of manuscript 873, held at the Biblioteca Trivulziana in Milan, which constitutes the sole witness to the complete forty-eight-book epistolary corpus of the humanist Francesco Filelfo. The study focuses in particular on the ac- quisition and use of the manuscript by Alessandro Trivulzio, who, in his engagement with the work, relied on the expertise of the Tuscan scholar Lorenzo Mehus. The extensive epistolary exchange between the two is reconstructed through the rediscovery of fifty-five letters sent by Abbot Mehus to Trivulzio, now preserved in the private library of the Trivulzio family in Milan, within the Archivio Trivulzio, Materiale notificato, Triv. 2086.
