Between 2005 and 2007, during restoration and consolidation carried out in Palazzo Pianciani at Spoleto, extensive archaeological surveys were performed over the entire area of the complex, developed in the historic center among Via Tobagi, Piazza Pianciani,Vicolo Pianciani and Piazza Clementi.This survey brought to light a multilayered situation, with further proofs from a very wide time span, ranging from Roman to Contemporary Age.The oldest archaeological finds date back to the Early and Middle Imperial Age and due to a domus provided with baths (balneum).The most significant findings relate to the Early Middle Ages: the excavations of a room overlookingVia Tobagi (vano 36) returned the remains of a apsed hall with a large pond aligned along the east side and decorated with a mosaic floor, interpretable as bapt
