L'invecchiamento della forza lavoro rappresenta una delle sfide più importanti per le società europee e, in particolare, per l'Italia, dove il 40% degli occupati è over 50. Questo articolo analizza il ruolo delle parti sociali nel regolare gli effetti dell'invecchiamento della forza lavoro nei settori chimico-farmaceutico, logistica-trasporti e telecomunicazioni. Attraverso l'analisi dei contratti collettivi nazionali e di una serie di interviste realizzate con i rappresentanti delle sigle sindacali e datoriali dei tre settori, emerge il ruolo limitato della contrattazione collettiva nel rappresentare gli interessi specifici dei lavoratori over 50 con disposizioni dirette a questo gruppo di lavoratori. Ciò si spiega a causa della maggiore rilevanza attribuita dagli attori della contrattazione al tema del ricambio generazionale che mette in secondo piano l'elaborazione di interventi specifici per i lavoratori anziani. L'articolo propone una riflessione teorica sul ruolo della contrattazione collettiva nel regolamentare gli effetti dell'invecchiamento, evidenziando la necessità di strategie più proattive da parte delle parti sociali.
